I completed the change from black to red on my car calipers over the winter,,
bought the transfers from e.bay,, £10 for 6,,,,,,and the red halfords paint,,, about £20,,,
I took all four calipers off, took out all the pads and cleaned the calipers till shiny, inside and out,, then sanded them down to get rid of the chips in the old black paint and finished sanding off with smooth emery,,,, masked the seals of the pistons, and took out the bleed screws... and put masking tape inside them also..
takes two coats of red,, on each caliper,, one pack from halfords did all four calipers with spare paint left,,, but because the paint sets quick quickly,, to a nice goo,,, I mixed it up in small batches,,, 8 batches in fact,,,, managed to save the brush most of the time,, by cleaning it with thinners,, left calipers for 24hrs to harden,, refitted with new pads, and fitted calipers,, re-bled etc,, which is quick to do,,, then once that was all finished fitted the stickers,,,,,,,,,I thought it best to fit them once the claipers were on,, less chance of scraping them,, or getting, brake fluid on them,,,,
they look like new and you could not tell them apart from originals,,,,,, thought they might go dark red with heat,,, car little used,, but has been to outlon park and knockhill,, and they are still shiny shiny red,,,,, stickers are still white and have not come off at all...
took me about 40hrs,, in total to complete the above,,, bit of an anorak,,,, but worth the effort,,, if I could figure out how to attach photo,, could show them fitted,,, if you want to see some photos,, let me know and I will e.mail them to you...
car is silver,, and looks much better with the red calipers than the black,.,,,,,
cheers
