Brake callipers

Hi All,

My red callipers are looking really tired and appear to be peeiling. The local Porsche approved accident repar / paint shop can't help. I'm sure I'm not alone in this problems so what have others done - any suggestions?

Thanks very much.

How DIY do you want to get?

If you are happy to do so, remove each calliper, wire brush down, clean up and spray with brake paint. I have used Hammerite successfully in the past on a 944. The "Porsche" stickers are available on eBay so I guess they can't be too difficult to get.

Most specialists will paint calipers. It will cost you circa £300 though (that's what it cost for a friend of mine for all 4 calipers. Not sure what they did but they looked brand new when finished.

Have you been using acidic alloy wheel cleaner? I used Wonder Wheels initially and it lifted the paint straight off my old calipers. I now just use soap and water and a plastic stiff brittled brush or plastic pan scourer and all is fine.
