Brake Disc Heart Attack !

I need to get some new front discs before the RS day. They have hardly any wear on them, but the cracks are up to 10mm from the edge, so I do need to replace them.

Having had a trawl around on t'interweb, the cheapest I can find discs delivered is an eye watering £456 !!!!!

GT One quoted me £582 fitted..........

Does anyone have a lower cost solution ????????? I would prefer to stick with OE, but if there is a sensible option I will consider it (don't want to go for solid discs 'cos I'm a tart and like the holey ones !)

I had that last year, went for OE in the end, and fitted myself to save some notes. I'm afraid brakes are very pricey on the RS. What pads are you going for?

I guess that price is from Type 911 who sell OE front RS discs for £182 + VAT + shipping. I buy their OEM discs (made by Sebro) for my C2 which are less than half the price of OE (£54 versus £126). I haven't noticed any difference in performance or quality. They also sell OEM RS discs but the cost saving is much less (you only save £22 per disc) so you might as well go with the OE for the peace of mind.

Pads don't need changing they're not even half worn (RS 29). Just can't believe how expensive the discs have become. I remember them being around £300 a set, but not £450 ! I will definitely fit them myself, but someone needs to come up with a lower cost alternative or at least discs that will last more than half a dozen track days ! I know it's been discussed before, but did anyone ever make any progress on a two piece set up eg Alcon ???
