Brake ducts and lights

Torrential rain in Cheltenham so thought I'd ask here rather than lying on my back on the driveway...

Most brake ducts I've seen have a visible screw holding them in - mine don't. Do you think they're screwed in from behind? Des, can you remember how they were fitted or were they fitted before you owned the car?

Also, need to remove the indicator housing and the 'blank' next to it.

The 'blank' just has a simple screw at the outer end and it comes off by unslotting the tabs at the inner end. The indicator housing also has a screw at the outer end (revealed when the blank is removed), but how is it fixed at the inner end next to the duct? No visible screws or other fittings.

Cheers. [:D]

They look the same as mine. If they are fitted properly they will have a hose to the brake discs. This holds them in with the help of silicon sealant fitted by PSI on my RS.

Was going to refit the blanks but it looked like too much work!

Thanks Charles. Yep, they have the pipework behind attached with hose clamps, so I guess that's what's holding them in.

Now, what about those indicators?

There is a tab on the inner edge that slips through a slot in the bumper and clips on like a paper clip would.

This is really P1 day 1 stuff! ;O)

It was raining yesterday so teachers wouldn't let us out to play. Will have a proper look this weekend.

Rich you have the quality German made ducts. There used to be loads of cheap copies about. I fitted mine and you need to fit flexible ducting which holds ducts in place.Take off the wheel arch covers for access. Near side is easy. Off side is tight as you have only narrow slot between inner shell and oil radiator.

Thanks Jeff. I'm surprised it's just the flexible hose holding them in as they feel so solid. I guess as Charlie mentioned there might be some silicone behind there too.

But, it turns out I don't need to take them off anyway. [:)] I've been REALLY carefully removing all the old yellowed Armourfend protection from the car. I started with the front PU and thought it was likely I'd rip some paint off so was checking how to remove everything in order to get it resprayed.

But it all came off leaving perfect paint behind. [:D]
