Brake ducts

Just cosmetic?

Or do they actually help cool things down and prevent fade?

I'm looking to track my car so this seems a sensible (& cheap) modification.

Any views/experiences would be welcome

cheers

Can't answer the question but I do have some which I'm assured fit a 964. Owning a 924 I can't verify that! [8|]

They're black GRP, will need painting to finish though. If you're interested make an offer. I'm happy to send them to you for trial fit before you buy as I don't want to sell something I can't be certain will fit - it's a long story and i won't bore you with the details.... I'll explain it if you really want [&:] . Can e-mail picture if interested

Let me know, Phil

Kristian,

They CAN be effective if the rear of the scoop is plumbed to an outlet near the disc/caliper. However, I suspect the vast majority of cars which have them fitted DO NOT have the additional plumbing fitted (the ducts don't come with the plumbing to the best of my knowledge). I'm not even sure if the RSs have the plumbing to the brakes either. Maybe someone on the RS Register might tell.

Regards

Dave

It's all bling really.

Even Cup Cars had the air ducts blanked off for racing possibly due to over cooling!. Possibly may be useful for long distance racing.

And RS's didn't have them plumbed in.

It's a pain of a job necessitating cutting around oil cooler shroud and air con (where fitted) and thru wheel arch liners. To be really effective, the air needs to exit directly into the centre of the disc.

ok, in my defence.. it better works on heavier cars, but after a few hours on track then may be a difference but OEM set up is pretty good... so on that one time prior to fitting, the brakes got tired.. after 6 hour on & off the track!

anyway if you ain't got a RS or cup car, then you have to bling ! [:D]
