Brake help Please

Having fitted new (recon.) front calipers the brake warning light stays on - one circuit failed / handbrake, left hand warning light.

Brakes work good - passed MoT today - they were not interested in the light as the brakes were excellent ! [:D]

No air, fully bled. How can the front caliper replacement put this light on ? How do I rectify ?

Your ideas / advice will be much appreciated. Thanks David

This is just off the top of my head, but I would think you have disturbed the brake pad wear indicators wires which attach to the brake pads. This would cause that bulb to illuminate. I've had it do this on a previous car when the connections have gotten a bit corroded.

Thanks for the idea, and I will check it. However, the book shows that as the RIGHT warning lamp - mine is the LEFT one coming one - one of the two circuits failed / handbrake on.

I drove for about 15 miles and the back discs barely got warm, so I don't think the handbrake is jammed on, and I can't see any connection with the front caliper change ?

Check the pad wear indicator wires first thing tomorrow. Thanks. David

You might have to reset the warning system.
Turn the ignition on and disconnect the battery.
Switch igniton off and reconnect.
This is what I had to do on my previous 83 SC after caliper removal and my current 84 3.2 looks like it's got the same system

Thanks for the advice. I found the problem. Despite the handbook saying it indicates a single system of the dual system failed, or the handbrake, it ALSO indicates low brake fluid. A bit embarrassing !! David
