Brake light problem.3.2.

My brake lights works only when brake is applied very hard.Are the switchs on the master cylinder as I changed one of those to no effect.The brakes are fine .
 
On most cars I think the switch is normally on the brake pedal, somewhere up inside the footwell.
It is adjustable, o you can set when it will come on. You want it to come on after a millimeter or two of travel, so they don' t flash every time you go over a bump.
 
My brake lights stopped working and to test the cabling harness you can disconnect the brake lights connector from the brake sensor and short it... the lights should come on. You get to the brake sensor by removing the cover in the front luggage area. I don' t think the switch is in the footwell.
