Brake Lights

Hi all

Just had my car fail its mot on an anti roll bar bracket/link and brake lights. They have said the brake lights are dimmer than the side lights. Has anyone heard of this before? I have just had the call at work so have not had chance to look at it yet, I cant see the bulbs being wrong (or are there special bulbs for porsches) if its not the bulbs what should I be looking for.

Its a 1989 944 2.7

I have seen the bulbs fitted the wrong way round - the bayonet fitting which should prevent it isn't "double sided" on the 944 cluster. Or alternatively, has some-one done this in the past and swapped the wires around to compensate?
 
There is nothing special about the bulbs. If the wiring is fine and the cluster itself isn't full of dirty mouldy water then I'd agree with Tref - someone has put the brake bulbs in the tail light holder and vice versa [8|] Depending which ARB bracket it is, then they are really easy to replace and easily cost less than 20 of our luvverly pounds at the nearest Porsche Centre
 
Frotn ARB bracket is a fiver from an OPC. Ask me how I know ... (actually, don't bother [:mad:] ) Lights - if the bulb is correct, check for a good earth. They can get grotty on old cars (not sure about 944's.) Oli.
 
Its the drop link apparently that goes from the ARB to the lower arm, gonna have to see if I can source one tomorrow. Can anyone reccomend a good place in North West London or Watford area. Cheers Simon
 
Right got home tonight to investigate & it seems someone has been messing with the wiring, basically my brake lights are where my side lights should be & only has the 5w bulb & my side light is on the corner under the indicator with a 21w bulb. Hopefully its just a case of changing the wires but something tells me its been changed for a reason. Still trying to find someone with an ARB bracket Cheers for the feedback Simon
 
Simple solution Simon, remove the arb completely. They can't fail you for it if it's not there. We've done this when in the same situation without problem. Just remember its not there before going pushing on through the twisties [;)]
