I thought I' d post a recent experience regarding brake lines, and although on my Audi, the age of the car is the relevant part. Its 9 years old. the same as my 964.
Recent MOT failure on the rubber hoses from the inner wing to front strut, failed on balooning under pressure. The reason I write this is because:-
a, the age of the vehicles we all own.
b, I couldn' t see the balloning because it' s difficult to pressurise the brake lines and visually check them at the same time, which is what the two guys did on the MOT.
So being precautionary I' m going to change my rubber hoses on the 964 for stainless lines, that way I should not have to worry about them degrading in the near future.
Hope this is of some use, and dosen' t frighten anyone about the condition of their braking system.
