Brake Master Cylinder Alternative

Probably been asked before I know guys but just finishing a full refurb on my brakes, including 16 new pistons...........OUCH! Was thinking of a new master cylinder to top it all off. Seems they are one of those parts with an unexplainable unobtainium price! Any alternative Merc or VW parts or even a rebuild kit before I take the plunge? Thanks in advance.

Europarts sell the master cylinder for just over £180 if that's any help?

I don't even get anything listed on ECP or GSF Pete. If you have a ECP number that may help. Both them and GSF seem to be having a weekend war at the minute. Might get a code come through.

TRW do a replacement, any decent motor factor should be able to get it for you.

I'll check the part number when I'm back at work on Monday, I bought new master & slave recently and I think they were both TRW.

Just had a look on TRW. Just lists one part for 87 onwards. Says ATE but not for ABS. Surely all post 87 cars had ABS?

Just a quick update on this for the wider audience. It would seem this part has now become like the proverbial rocking horse crap. Apparently ATE no longer make the TurboS2968 master cylinder for ABS cars and Porsche have removed the license for them to be manufactured in the aftermarket. Design911 are showing stock but they actually don't have it. Not the first experience of that I have to admit. The other shop for Porsche say they I have it but at a ridiculous price as usual. So is this an example of Porsche recognising the rising value of the Turbo cars and the marque in general and forcing you to buy one from them for around £500? Luckily once again Max at Frazerpart came up trumps and has sourced one for me. Not cheap but the very best price he could possibly do and acceptable to me. Cheers Max.

Max has got me one for less than half that mate. That was a mission though. I am glad as I don't expect to see these around much for longer. I shall keep the old one also for mine or anyone else's emergency.

Doh, of course it is. I was looking for a clutch master cylinder and found this thread and clearly didn't read all the words!
Anyway clutch parts are much cheaper...
