Hi,
Its time for new front brake pads on my 993tt. Anyone got any idears, experiences or advice as to after market v OE?
Thanks

Ive heard lots of good things about EBC Green Stuffs, although I haven't used them myself. Search this forum, and you'll find the same. Also depends if you do any track days etc......

Thanks for the input, I was hoping to hear from some "first hand experience" as, surprise surprise, all the brake pad firms sing their own praises. In the future when I have done a few miles on new pads I shall post a report.

I don't have a 993TT, but do have some experience of pads...

Brembo as supplied by OPC: Good all round, not too dusty, don't squeal, not too hard on discs, fade easily on track days - a good choice for road only cars - expensive
.
Textar: some say these are the Brembo OEM - same characteristics as above, some say harder on discs but I haven't experienced this. Cheaper than Brembos.

Pagid: varying compounds, tend to squeal a lot and produce a lot of dust. Outstanding on-track performance, very fade resistant, not so good when cold - good choice for track day pads, very expensive.

Performance Friction Carbon Metallic: As pagid, good track day, not quite so bad on road - squeal like a pig, lots of dust - I had the "97" compound which is best for cars with ABS.

EBC Greenstuff: Good reports as a road pad - less dust than standard. No use for trackdays - early fade.

I got to the point where I was swapping the pads for trackdays to the performance friction pads and back to the textar ones for standard road use.

Thanks very much GreigM
I have ordered some ECB greenstuff pads as they seem the value option if the are up to there own claims. Don't track the car, it would have to lose a few lbs to make that prospect more appealing. Will post running report when pads bedded in.

"..........Don't track the car......."

Well, there's nought wrong with OE then!! Or is this change for change's sake???
