Brake pad light

Hope someone can help! My brake pad light has started to come on roughly after 15-20 mins driving. The pads are fine. Any ideas to the cause?

I would start by checking and cleaning the plugs where the sensors connect to the loom. The sensor circuit is a loop that runs from the instrument cluster, around each sensor, and back to the cluster. A break in the circuit, or if it goes to ground (ie. when the disk wears through the sensor) causes the light to come on.

Thanks for the response Richard. I'll do that. The strange thing is that it doesn't' come at first and obviously goes off when the car is next started.

Hi, I had similar problem after I changed discs and pads. Turned out to be a broken brake wear sensor lead. Once replaced with a new lead all was ok. Hope this helps. Regards ray.

Thanks for the info: certainly seems as if it is a wiring issue. I drove it 70 miles today before the light suddenly came on
