Brake pads for hillclimb/road car?

Returning to the hills in my 1000Kg 1973 911T with 230 bhp 3.2 in the back.
It has Type A calipers in the front and stock T calipers in the rear.

Today it has standard pads which are quite a fright at times, so anyone with advice for new pads?

DS 2500 come to mind, or Pagid Blue pads, but what else is there for good bite from cold?

Carbon metallic??

Thanks Ian, I hope I can remember how to cope with the thing. The Rice Rocket has spoilt me but it is about 7 seconds faster on all the hills compared to the 911!

At 360 bhp it is well out-classed now. The new benchmark is at least 500 bhp...

Why not fit 3.2 carrera calipers and discs all round,with pagid 29 or 15.This will sort your brakes out,i used to run this on our hillclimber.
I have a set of second hand complete 3.2 and a brand new set complete with drilled discs etc,both will be for sale.As i have fitted the rsr type brakes to mine for circuits as well as the hills.
 
Will those work without the servo part of the 3.2's system?
I have thought about getting a servo/pedal box and link rod to shoe-horn into my 911. Today I have simple A calipers and stock 73T rears.

I really need to get some brakes before March Loton test weekend.
I have Bilstein front struts and alloy rear arms but i think the calipers will fit?

I've just fitted a new master cyclinder so don't really want to throw that out.

If Graham does not take the 3.2 Carrera brakes, can I please be second in line, as I believe this is the way I should go with my 1973 911T - I have purchased a second hand set of Bilstein struts to get the 3.5" caliper spacing needed at the front, but still have stock rear arms. Do I need the proportioning valve though as Graham asked, as this I have no idea about how or where to fit......technical advice greatly accepted......I am in Stratford-upon-Avon so could pop over and collect etc. Thanks, Ian
 
Another solution is a new set of 6 and 4 pot calipers. There can be supplied with the adaptors for 3.5" or 3" ears to save having to change your struts.

I've turned down Paul's brakes so over to you. My efforts in 2008 are as a stop-gap while I tweek my Impreza to 500 bhp etc and to get a bit of lazy fun back into my hillclimbing for a change.
Paul's brakes sound absolutly great.

I have no proportioning valve on my 911 and the car seems very front/rear balanced just slow to stop....
I think I will try Pagid Blues as in my Impreza.

Those custom brakes look a bit good too!

What hillclimb series are you thinking of competing in this year? Have you thought about the club's own series?

In 2008 I will do my usual Midland and Leaders Champs in the 911 but in Class C2 (the one with SWB Audi Quattro's etc(!) They have about 700 bhp and 4X4 so they need to be nervous....
I had thought about the Porsche Series, and had a good look around when you were all at Loton and had long chats with Jonathn W too. doing very different events (for me) would be good but i need to keep check on costs to sink into the bottomless pit call an Impreza. They make 911's cheap by comparison I assure you, but the effect is amazing.

£8K will deliver a reliable 500 bhp and a bullet proof transmission, my car has all the rest needed now. I can do Loton in 57.6 with a 1.97 start (on slicks), my best 911 time on 1A's is 61.
I will run on Kumho's V70 soft (tyre spec is free in those championships) so I hope to find a low 60 in 2008.
Switching back to 2 WD and the engine in the right place will be tricky after 4x4...
