Brake Pads- Road use only

MRGT

New member
Morning folks.
I will soon be needing new pads both front and rear (944S), and am looking for some advice. I have done a search and note that EBC's seem to be a 'no-no' (shame really as the reds were superb on my Octavia)
Opinion seems to be that if it is road use only then either standard Mintex or Pagid are ok, but has anyone tried Ferodo, Black Diamond or others? I am after something that gives a a more direct bite and feel than the current set up which seems a little soft ,even my wifes Panda has a better feel [:D].

All advice appreciated

Pad choice will make a big difference to feel, and for me I'm only really happy with an agressive model as I like the bite. However the overall feel should be better than most modern cars (unless you're used to the assistance of the strong servo used on some newer cars) so I agree that something may not be quite right with your current setup. What fluid are you using? Have the calipers been rebuilt recently?

I've just ordered some Hawk HP+ pads for the 944S as the Porterfields I have on order from the States are not going to be here for a while (useless ebay seller []) but I suspect they'll still be a bit too agressive for most road driving, but I'll find out in a couple of days [:D].

On the road I use the standard Textar pads all round without issue (PF on the front for track) It had `Green Stuff` pads when I bought it. They were the `old skool` type and worked well but I`ve heard indifferent reports regarding the new type.

Unless you are driving like a total loony in Milton Keynes you wont need more for the road in my opinion.
