Brake Pads ?????

How come when someone on here posts about a problem on their car the next day it happens to me. I am not reading this site anymore.

Anyway I have a clonk coming from rear left side that turns out to be the handbrake pads. So this weekend I am going to do a complete strip down on the brakes, fit new pads all round as the fronts are very low as well.

My question is what pads can I fit? Are they the same all round? And are they the same as late turbos? I am so confused.[&o]

First of all the handbrake is controlled by a set of shoes inside the rear disk hub. This is not the same as the pads inside the calliper that operates on the disk.

If you are stripping down and replacing everything you will need a set of front pads, a set of rear pads and a set of handbrake shoes.

The 220 Turbo has the same size pads front and rear (which are identical to the S2). The 250 Turbo has the larger pads at the front from a 928 S4

Hi,
On the subject of the handbrake, only one side of mine is working acceptably, i think its down to the cables,
Where the cable splits into two cables, and then to each hub, is this section( in the centre of the car) supposed to be attached to the car??
The two that supply the hubs look like new, are new cables supplied as a whole or can the one section from handbrake to splitter be bought separately?
Spent many hours rebuilding the brakes before noticing the splitting bit is just hovering in its hidden own way. any help much appreciated,
JB

Don't forget the springs that attach the handbrake shoes. For a few £s I can't believe that mine weren't renewed and of course failed pretty immedately, on track......[]
