Brake parts from OPC - discount?

I'm just pricing up brake discs, pads, damping plates (anti-squeel shims), sensor wires, caliper bolts - looking at sourcing all Original Porsche brake parts at an OPC.

I'll definitely replace discs, pads and anti-squeel damping plates. Probably also caliper bolts (best practice). My sensor wires should be reuseable (they haven't 'tripped').

I've tried Bristol which is my local OPC, and also Exeter which have been recommended on here.

I'll be spending around £1200 - and both have offered 10% discount. Has anyone ever managed more than 10% discount from their local OPC? Any recommendations?

Cheers

Rich, some OPC offer more discount if you have built up a relationship with them by buying parts over a period pf time...even if someone offered 15% that was further away then you still have travel costs or postage to consider.

for a value alternative, try Eurocarparts or german and swedish, they often have various options, some of which are original equipment, check that before buying the cheapest option.

I couldnt find cheaper than my local OPC, once I'd factored in postage. I got a shade over 10% as I recal. I wouldnt bother with sensors like you say. Definately do the caliper bolts, esp. the rears as they are pig to get to. Are you fitting standard pads? Assume the car doesnt go near a track?

I asked the same a couple of months ago I think. Do a search, although it will just confirm the above - buy from OPC ask for discount. You might want to consider if you hand brake shoes on a road car as you'll be in there too.

Don't ask for discount but instead say you were expecting to pay about £X and get them to match or beat the price. That always works for me. I always buy from a OPC and usually get between 10 - 30%, using the above approach. You'll get less discount on parts coming from Germany and much more for those coming from Reading. The parts you want should be in the UK and thus should be available at a good discount. I'd say you expected to pay about £950 and see where you get to.

Wilmlsow hosts one of our club nights each year. The parts counter does a sale of stock that has been on the shelf a while. These are often discounted by 50%. But on such nights I've managed to twist their arms for a 20% discount on parts that are not on sale. [;)]

Try putting a part number into www.partsreunited.co.uk and see if you get lucky. I've not had to use it for Porsche parts but have got a couple of very good deals on parts for my MB - all new, genuine and from MB dealers!
