Brake Pressure warn light

Hi,

Manual says "C4, C4S and Turbo: Brake pressure is monitored in addition to fluid level....you should not drive off until the pressure has built up....." etc.

I've never notice the light before but now it's on most mornings. Admittedly only for a few seconds (while I ignore it and reverse out of drive).

Also had the ABS light come on two occassions when I started up (with the above light). That did not go out until I switched off and restarted.

Anyone else seen this (or had to do anything to fix it long term)?

Thanks

I started seeing the brake pressure warning light on start up about two years ago. My Independant advised that this was nothing untoward (apparently up to 30 secs is acceptable). However, I was advised to change the brake fluid as a precautionary measure.

I find just blipping the throttle slightly on start up helps extinguish the light a bit quicker. This is because the pressure is supplied by an electric pump, the blip from the throttle just provides a bit of extra current from the alternator to assist the battery.

I have never had the ABS light come on, so I can't offer any advice other then having the car plugged in for a diagnostic check.

PP is spot on about the pump for the brake system.

If your ABS light is coming on it could just be a loose connection or one of the sensors is about to go. Get your indie to hook it up and that should maybe narrow things down.

You'll probably find that if the ABS light has started to come on, it will gradually get worse.. and will not only stay on occasionally but will start to come on under gental braking etc... With the light on it basically means you will no longer have any ABS & ABD functionality not dangerous depending on how you drive [8|], but would fail an MOT. The ABS issue is normaly traced using the OBD to a faulty wheel sensor caused by corrosion and cracking of the plastic housing.

Most speciallist can replace these for not much over £100 inc parts and labour.

Thanks - so maybe the two lights are unrelated. What's been said above fits for the ABS because the first day I saw it the rain had been appauling so easy to see how a rusting sensor was not happy.

I'm thinking of buying an OBD scanner, so this might encourage me to get on with it (although have just shelled out on 2 sets of HID lights so I can replace both the dip and main beam - so might have to wait for next month...)
