Brake Question

The brakes on my S2 feel really good and so they should be after new discs and calipers. However, Today I pulled up on my drive which Is a little steep and the break pedal went really firm and then started to lose pressure. When I pump the brakes they go very solid yet If i keep the pressure on after a few seconds they lose that pressure. Am I right in assuming that there must be a fluid leak somewhere ?
Many thanks

It does sound like the seals going in your master cylinder as JM said but might be worth checking the hose connections to the master cylinder vacumn maybe you are losing some air pressure ?is there any change in the idle if you press or pump the brakes ?

Problem found ! A corroded brake line. Fortunately the rear axle wont have to be dropped in order to replace it.
