Brake replacement costs

Hi

Can anyone advise me on the likely cost of replacing the discs and pads on all 4 wheels of a 1996 Carrerra 4 please?

Many thanks

Hi,

I did mine last year. 993 C4 with standard discs and pads. I paid £524 for all the parts, all Porsche original parts with a PCGB discount. This was for pads, discs, caliper bolts, warning sensors and spider/shims. It doesn't include the backing plates that are shown in Maurice's article in the tech section. A good mechanic using a lift can do it all in two hours. Although, many will quote four hours for the job.

I did it all myself. it's not rocket science and as Maurice states there are several how to articles on the web.

Thank you both for your input. As much as I feel I would gain in understanding by following the DIY option I know that I would find it stressful as none of these DIY jobs are ever as easy as they should be. But I now have a good idea as to the sort of cost I should be expecting, so time to phone an independent and raid the piggy bank.
