Brake replacement

Can't put it off any longer, I need to do a full disc and pad replacement on my C4S cab. Just wanted to know if anyone has been down the same route recently and found a decent deal for all the parts?

Cheers chaps

Phone OPC, and get a price, then check out places like Type 911 and design 911 and compare their online prices. Some times OPC works in your favour especially if you are a club member. I see that you are a guest of the club, well a couple of trips to the opc for parts as a member would offset most of your membership subscirption.
example:
Column stalk failure on the 996 is quite commom. My indie has seen a couple, so much so that he buys in the obc and cruise control version and takes the obc stalk off because it is cheaper than buying the cruise version.
I told him the cheapest way was to buy the basic switch and refit the obc for the ultimate saving.
Right price wise; OPC £87 with discount plus vat came to £97 odd. I didn't bother with Type 911 becasue you have to get a quote, but design 911 was £117 delivered, and I can assure you that I did not use £20 worth of juice collecting it. If you can make similar savings on the brakes you would completey offset membership.
Other outlets are Bert Gear used to be BerLyn parts but now I think they can be found as Parts for Porsche. It is generally accpeted that Porcheshop is one of the most expensive places to buy parts from, do check out eurocarparts they often have good deals going, only recently they had an exceptional deal on 944 discs I think

Too late now John I know but we do list the basic column switch at £78+ (you still had a good deal with OPC though!)

My wife and I flatly refuse to deal with sites that do not have visible prices. I understand why Porsche don't display, or at least I imagine I can think of a number of reasons. Hendon Way Motors is a place that may have missed out on the margins on the sale of a 996t when I bought mine; I am not saying they did but the potential to lose business was there is you get my drift, and the simple reason is they have all those wonderful cars but no prices. So the moral is if any one wants my business then I need to know the price, up front. .

While I agree with you 100% about sites with POA on them, I dont know what more info you could ask for in our listing of that said part;

Hi
Try Euro Car Parts as they currently have 50% off everything on line - I use them a lot and their discs/brake pads are good quality[:D]

Ok Maybe I have missed a link somewhere. I clicked on 944 parts and directed to a phone number.

Ok just had a quick visit to the site again and unlke most other places where you just click on the model, on Type 911 you have to use the search function which is quite unusual, in my defence. Typed in column switch and there it was. Mystery solved.

The main shop should be easy enough to navigate...............

No need to search, just follow your nose! Glad you found it anyhow!

Porsche themselves are actually quite cheap for parts and with PCGB membership you should be able to get 10% off.

I've used design911.com and carparts911.co.uk (aka eurocarparts.co.uk) and last time bought Sebro discs and Textar pads.

Don't forget anti-squeal shims if you're not going to reuse them, and sensors too if they've triggered. Or melted.
