Brake replacement

The front disks on my CS are approaching the end of their life so I'm looking at getting a kit from Design911. Other than adding a set of caliper bolts to the kit it looks just like any other disk change. I'm assuming I've not missed anything?

Pity the same can't be said for the rears ??

If the kit includes discs, pads, wear sensors and dampers that's about it. Replacement caliper bolts are advisable, and if the kit includes a brake pad retention kit (spring, pin and clip) that would be a useful but unnecessary bonus. You may want to consider getting some replacement countersunk screws to secure the discs to the hub flanges in case the current ones prove difficult to remove without damaging them.

There's plenty of stuff online for guidance if you need some pointers. Nothing special for the front or rear brakes if you've got a 987, but you'll need to tap into the electronics via PIWIS or similar to wind-off the electric handbrake on later cars.

Thanks Jeff. Mine is a 981, so the rears will have to be done by an independent. They can wait until next year though šŸ˜

You could always invest in a diagnostic tool. Something from ICarsoft for instance will enable you to do Electronic Parking Brake maintenance and other things for around Ā£150. I suppose it's just a trade-off between the tool cost and your Porsche Independent's labour rate and whether or not you're likely to use it for other things.

It's crossed my mind, but not sure what else I'd use it for. To maintain the value, I'll pay for servicing, even though it seems straightforward.
