911 turbo newbie

we are thinking of upgrading our brakes, have any other turbo, X-50 owners done this and what make have they decided to put on there cars.

i know it wont be cheap[:D]but since having it remapped, feel i just need more in the stopping power direction now[;)]
thanks for the link.

I run Alcons on my Turbo, thanks to the previous owner. Stunning stopping power but they do squeal slightly when they're cold although that may be due to the pads. With that in mind, any recommendations for the best pads with Alcons?

what is it about the brakes that makes you think that you need to upgrade ?
fade ?
lack of modulation ?
feel ?

Unless you are charging round a track all-day, I'd really be surprised if they actually needed upgrading.
maybe a pad change is all you need...

I've been pondering the same question for my GT3;
ended up sticking with stock & rs29 pads
yes, they will squeal, but will cope with the high temps better

just a thought

As my discs were worn out I took the plunge and upgraded to 6 pot (GT2/3/997 Turbo) callipers with Performance friction rotor on custom bells with RS29's. I also fitted the bigger front brake spoilers from the 997 turbo, they clip onto the lower control arm and direct air towards the disc plus they are cheap - less than £20 for the pair from your local OPC.

I also fitted 997 turbo rear discs and had a spacer made for my rear calliper to suit the larger diameter.

I've gone a bit OTT because I don't track the car that much (3/4 times a year max)

If only doing road work then I wouldn't bother as it will cost you £2k plus. Get the brake spoilers though as cooling is the key.

It probably not the pads that are the issue but you are unlikely to be running "stickies" or the dampers that stick to the back of the pad as they are often left out when fitting track pads/disc as the common consensus is the glue melts the first time you get them really hot rendering them useless.
