brake upgrades to original set up

My brake pads need replacing on my 944 2.5 Lux (1988). The discs also have only been making partial contact with the pads and so also need replacing (part of disc shiny other part rusty).

Does any-one have suggestions on pads and discs that they have used and have found to be better than original. I.E Is it worth getting drilled discs, green stuff pads, braded hoses.

I just use the car for going to work etc not racing and don't drive excessively fast.

Braided hoses is certainly an upgrade which is not going to hurt and is relatively cheap at around £40 but in terms of brake pads and disks if you are not tracking the car you are best to stick with OEM. Alot of people on this forum seem to rate the Sebro discs you can get from Berlyn's which are cheaper than OEM but Zimmerman discs don't seem to get the same good reports. Alot of Zimmerman users complain of excessive corrosion and warping, although I had cross drilled Zimmermans and had no such problems but plenty of other people have had problems.

EBC pads full stop seem to be getting a bit of a hard time although I had EBC Red stuff on my previous brake setup and was not impressed at all with them but have now got EBC yellow stuff on my current brake setup and they are alot better - but I have replaced my discs and calipers so I can't tell if the improvement is due partially or totally to the pads or not.

I'm due to replace my rear discs and I will be going OEM from my local OPC even though they are about £20 per disc more expensive than the Sebro discs from Berlyns.

I would not recommend drilled discs for just road use. There are some isses around cracking and blocking with these discs and they can be noisy and go through pads at a quicker rate than solid discs. You might be able to live with this if you were tracking the car because of the better performance, but you will be getting very little performance benefit from them during your daily grind to work. Although they do look the business!!
