Hi,

Brake sensor cables:
Seems to be common now on 944's the outer Black insulation on the cable wiring on the brake pad wear indicators for both front and back callipers just drops off leaving just the inner cables it just looks unsightly with loose cables. Anyone been here before I was thinking of repairing the individual looms with heat shrink, or has anyone managed to source the correct cable and colour coded inner cables ?? I hate to think the price for 4 x cables direct from Porsche?

Thanks
John

Hi

If you go on euro car parts and if you want the brembo sensors, order 4 x 106330158 that will be £46.96 then apply MAY75 as a discount code you should get 4 nice new sensors for £28.57 inc vat

Discount codes with ErucarParts
Only available sometimes - Could be 50% this weekend (May bank holiday)
Wait till they have a decent discount then order or Call and have a chat
I get really good discount but actually got 50% on BREMBO discs and pads which meant I paid about 220.00 Inc VAT for all 4 Discs and pads. Boxster 987.1)
Also just bought 6 BERU Ignition Coils and Plugs about 180.00 INC VAT

I did say for the Brembo Calipers, that are used on the S2, 968, Turbo, 993, 964 ........

Ok so if it is the Looms that are needed

The Additional cables for Brake Pad Wear Indicators in PET
Without ABS
944 612 109 00 Rear £134.00 each
944 612 107 00 Front £132.20 LH
944 612 108 00 Front £129.64 RH
With ABS M593
944 612 111 00 Front £108.92 LH
944 612 110 00 Front £128.86 RH
944 612 112 00 Rear £108.92 Each

on both counts nearly £500 for four cables

Try James Eaton at only 9, I recently bought the front offside loom from him for around £30, the insulating sleeve on mine had disappeared leaving the wiring exposed, nearside is fine,I suspect a rodent !

Hi Guys yes after wiring looms not the short wear sensors.

Also Frenchy, who are "Only 9" haven't heard of them before?

Cheers

John

Thanks Waylander,

Sadly not a cheap fix from Porsche for which is not a complicated wiring loom, so you can see why I've posted for advice on the Looms only.

......Also, I've worked out that Frenchy suggestion "Only9" looks like a specialist Porsche breakers but depending on the donor car it may still perish in time still, as the inner wiring is fine its just the outer insulation is falling off so I'm sort of tempted to heat shrink to make a new outer cover whilst off the car with the bends in the right place and fit back. But I'm open to any idea's for those that may have been there before?

I fitted four brand new looms on my 944, keep punching the part numbers into Ebay, they do come up NOS.

I considered heat shrink but the white plastic ends do not come off, therefore the size of the heat shrink to pass over the end would not shrink enough to be tight on the cable.

I may have the four old ones still kicking about, maybe a project to see if I can renew them to a good standard.

I would not heat shrink the whole lot, might become to stiff.

something like this for most of the length then some shrink at the ends to seal it off

Good shout, sort of chewing it over still but the short tails to the wear sensor I thought should account for and flexible movement to the callipers. I seen that Paul R may have some usable one's to recycle

Thanks
