Brakes - AGAIN!

Turned my back for a couple of hours and my brakes thread has gone AWOL. [8|]

Anyway, thanks to all those with advice on the previous thread. Looks like the OPC is coming in at a really good price compared to the usual suspects.

I plan to replace the metal spring plates with stainless ones, but I've also had 'damping plates' costed-up which I think are the round anti-squeel shims which go between the piston and the pad.

Is it generally necessary to fit these, I've read various things about people simply binning them when fitting new pads. What does the consensus think?

Also, where is the best place to get a full refurb and repaint done on the calipers if I go the whole hog?

You don't need the anti-squeal pads. However, they don't cost much, they are easy to fit and they do work.

If your calipers do need a refurb, then you might also want to speak to your friendly OPC to get a price for new calipers (you'll be surprised at the deal they'll do you, it'll probably work out at not a whole lot more than a refurb).

I have a brand new set of front calipers which I have decided not to fit. Bought them off 9M and would be looking to get my money back really and so they'll be cheap :). Please let me know if of interest.

Cheers.
