Brakes squeal on 997 c2s

I am sure this has been already covered elsewhere but I am being driven nuts by the brake squeal on my 997 c2s. The car is just under two years old with 16k on it. I am a second owner and I am certain that the previous owner never raced or abused the car. I have not either. I asked Porsche to fix it for me and they said "these high performance brake systems will squeal and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it". I find it really hard to believe that this cannot be remedied once and for all. Anyone had the same problem and was able to fix it? Thanks a lot!

PS. these are regular brakes not ceramics....The only thing that stops this temporarily is a car wash...

Hello Osmose, I am actually new to this site as well, today being my first postings.
I have a brake squeal problem as well on a 997.2 PDK, my car is only 1000 miles old. I have had a complete new set of pads fitted by the OPC, and I still have a problem (though improving) which is being monitored. If not resolved in the next few hundred miles the OPC will take further action.
You should not have squealing brakes, even though it is a high performance car.
There have been other threads on this on this forum, with it seams poor results. I was under the impression that the problem was on new Carrera 2 with PDK but with your info this is not the case!
Brake squeal occurs mainly due to friction material being too hard or brake pads vibrating at a certain high frequency within the caliper, which is normally resolved by shims and grease behind the pad to absorb such vibration. If you bought the car from a Porsche OPC then I would ask for another solution, such as new pads and fitted with shims and greased suitably.
If the solution is at your cost, then I would use or go to a specialist race brake pad supplier, they are there as I have checked it out and a solution exists with AP Braking solutions, however this would be expensive. On the web there are such suppliers and they will discuss with you, I have had detailed discussions with 2 companies, one in the Midland and one in Liverpool.
Good luck. I will have other postings as I work to a solution on my car.

My 997 C2S is just under two years old with 9000 miles on it.

The brakes have never squealed at all and there is no reason why they should.

I think your dealer is having a laugh.

my 997 c2s is 4.5yrs old now and done 22k miles. ive had it two years and in that time added 8k miles and they have never made a noise. u being fobbed off i recon. i deal with OPC colchester and they have never pulled a stunt like that in my experience. if u local use them or at least give them a call.

I figured they were blowing me off. It was OPC Chiswick. Really felt horrible after that conversation. Wanted a 911 for 10 years, finally got one and it ruins the whole experience. Then OPC is telling me tall tales about what's normal and what isn't. I was really on the verge of just selling the car and getting a Gran Turismo.

It is apparently a spurious problem but however, just tell 'em to fix it and let us know how you get on, I am interested as I have the same problem.

Calling Derek Sharp your thread has come in....[;)]

Derek is the member having squealing brakes on his gen 2, I know that he has struggled to get the OPC to be able to sort it, hopefully he will be able to update us shortly.
I've never had squealing brakes so totally agree with others that your being fobbed off.. You don't have to use that OPC though as you could take it to another OPC..
