Brakes - to refurb or not....

Hi everyone. Had my car from Aug 2001 , 28k kilometres up to present 61k kilometres. On front brake maintenance have had Pagid blacks , greys , now yellows (RS29) and about 3 sets front disks. Rears were/are yellow Pagids and probably original disks not changed since I got it. For last 3 years have had noise from front brakes only when hot , sounds like a (wheel) bearing running out , goes when apply light pressure to brakes. No loss of braking , no noise under normal road driving. Only after 10 mins+ track.

My guess is that pads are dragging on disks and could be down to corrosion of parts in assembly as a result of age ( 15 years) .

Any tests I can do to pin down cause ? Don't really want to go to new big red set-up , prefer to keep original 964RS configuration as thats enough brake for me !! Am considering having a refurb - anyone have experience of this ?
 
i had my fronts done by EBC's race shop in northampton.. mine were done as a good will as i had problems with a set of pads i brought and so they didnt get re-painted, just a "mechanical" overhaul...

I think they said the normal cost was in the region of £100 a caliper which includes new seals, spring plates, complete strip-down (incl. splitting the 1/2's) clean-up, re-assembly and paint which I don't think is too bad

Might be worth getting in touch with them; fast service, and they have a lot of experience with a lot of calipers.. cheaper than replacing, plus you know the history of your calipers

just had new front discs and the calipers refurbished (the calipers done by 9m, new plates & repaint, less than the pair for sale!) braking fully restored.
I only use std pads as the car gets limited track time but does do some sprints. Yes I think the pads could be dragging but that's not necessarily cause to refurb. Check how easily you can move the pads, if you take them out and they're difficult to replace then refurb is probably in order. On my car - which is a similar mileage one side was ok the other required considerable force to get the pads out and to replace
 
Easy fix if you have Torx 27. Remove the plate screws, copper grease underneath or paint with Halfords high temp. paint.

Change the dust seals if needed and replace plate screws.

Do not split the caliper.
