Brakes

I have a question; after 32,000miles (9972S) I'm still on the original brake pads and discs. Most amazing wear on any car I've owned.

Is this typical?

Looking at the wear on mine, including 4 track days so far, I think I'll be lucky to make 12k![:(]

My 996 C4S has gone in for its major service today - It has done 45,500 miles and is still on its orginal pads and discs!

I actually took part in a charity day at Bruntingthorpe yesterday and thought I'd give the brakes a quick look over... At 23,500 miles my rear pads and discs look worn, front pads look to have about 20mm or so left on them and the discs look Okay.. However I have a free inspection on the car tomorrow as part of a register visit, so we'll find out.. Either way for those that know Brunters, with the short straight the car was happily braking for the bottom bend from 160mph.. [:D] ALL afternoon garyw

Steady Gary sounds like you enjoyed that a bit too much and that you are on your way to becoming a Tracky!!

Not sure I could take the tyre wear to be fair [;)] I enjoyed it more so for the charity and passenger rides, the Turbo grunt to a newbie does leave them a little shocked..! Many people were trying both a GTR and then mine or visa versa, either way good for the charity[:)] Pleased to say that apart from one slow run for a child, nothing else passed me [;)] I couldn't make up the ground on the GTRs though.. Met some nice people and felt good for doing the drives all afternoon, I only stopped as the fuel light had come on! [:(] With another run our next month at Llandow perhaps a good time for new brakes[] garyw

OPC reported my brakes as okay ( new one there then[&:]) however the cooling holes are blocked, so need to sort that out prior to Llandow So overall very happy [:D] garyw
