As no less than our Chairman has posted elsewhere:-

"Race goers will be pleased to learn that dedicated parking for Porsches has been arranged with the organisers at Brands Hatch on 16 August when we have rounds of the Porsche Open Series and Club championship. Pre-booked entry is £10 and on the gate £12."

Seems rude not to go along after such an auspicious invitation. I should be there from 8:30 or there abouts. If anyone wants to meet up at Thurrock services before hand let me know. Would be nice to see a good bunch of 944's obviously.

Parking will be opposite the pits so come in through the main gates and carry straight on (after showing or procuring your ticket obviously) [;)]

The programme is as follows:-

9:00 Porsche Open - Qualifying
9:25 BRSCC Formula Jedi - Quali'
9:50 Porsche Club Championship - Quali'
10:15 Mill Street Ford Saloon - Quali'
10:40 Irish Global Lights - Quali'
11:00 Ford Fiesta Championship - Quali'
11:25 Ferrari Open- Quali'

11:50 Porsche Open - Race 1
13:00 BRSCC Formula Jedi - Race 2
13:30 Porsche Club Championship - Race 3
14:15 Mill Street Ford Saloon - Race 4
14:45 Irish Global Lights - Quali'
15:15 Porsche Open & Porsche Club - Race 5
15:55 Ford Fiesta Championship - Race 6
16:30 Ferrari Open - Race 7
17:00 Porsche Club - Race 8
17:45 BRSCC 924 Championship - Quali'

John , I have already planned to got to this saturday, what do i need to do to ensure i can park up with you guys ?

Cheers Steve.

Well, you can PayPal me £200,000,000 so I can buy the circuit or drive through the main gates and carry on. We will be about 300 yards on the right opposite the pit complex. I don't think you will miss us and there should be people there from 8:30 onwards.

Is this a 944 thang, or can any ole 997 join in?

I will be there and would like to park the car with its homies from the 'hood.

Wont they want to see some kind of pass to drive right in ? is there only one main entrance or if not whats the name of the entrance i need ?

Thanks you Sir......

There is only one main entrance - don't follow the signs to the paddock or get diverted to the public car park on the right before the main gates. You buy your tickets at the gate and drive through.

Would love to be there, as a m8 of mine is racing. Look out for the "orange" 968...
Only snag is,, its a LONG way from Blackpool...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well guys, I certainly had a great day. Thanks to Spic01 and Jay964rs for the company, very informative about what was what and great fun.

Very sunburnt and the last race was truly very exiting, A good drive home and now to watch Team GB and their great successes today. [:D]

Good to meet you Marc, Its always good to spend the day with other Porsche and motor sport fans a like .... catch up with you at an event in the near future.[:)].

Steve.

YOU'VE BEEN TANGO'ED !!

Quick report. Great day, weather stayed dry, finished both races on the tarmac and learnt a lot (3rd & 4th races for me). Rick doing the business as usual with his camera - special thx for the great colour photos - Rick.

Improved my lap times from qualifying to each of the 2 races. Am running in class 3 of the Open races but today had all the class 2 Club racers joining us as a second grid within each race. Yes the faster 944's from that grid did catch me up and pass me during the 30 min races -- managed to have some good clean racing with a couple of them during the latter part of each race.

On what was 'Super Saturday' in the Olympics -- I got a 2nd in class, one 3rd in class and then managed to win a special award called the Bill Taylor Memorial Torphy presented at this race in the Open at Brands for the driver who after qualifying makes the most consistent improvement over the 2 races combined. Wow! you can actually win stuff if you are consistent but not the fastest - perfect for me!! That was my 'gold medal' performance after the most superb inspiration from the GB swimmers/cyclists/rowers/sailors.

Onto Silverstone on 19th/20th Sept and then the last race meet at Spa on 3/4/5th Oct

Well done that man. There was certainly some "excitement" going on out here and there I'm glad you managed to avoid too much of it. There were one or two slightly used looking cars at the end of the day.

John -- you are most observant!

Incident No 1 -- a 964 was allegedly pushed off the circuit during qualifying and crashed quite heavily -- driver gets in a very nice right hook on the alleged perpetrator when he returned to the pits! Not very PCGB

Incident No 2 -- Mike Johnson in his rapid 996 broke a bottom wishbone ball joint in race 1, then buries the car against the tyre wall at the end of paddock bend -- works like mad to repair it and then won his second race. What a result.

Incident No 3 -- in the 2nd Club race a prominent 964 racer lost 2 or 3 laps due to a black flag (tyres fouling his wheelarch), on his return he held up the leader (a 968 of course!) rather 'too enthusiastically' and the 968 owner then stopped racing in disgust -- immediatley left the circuit in a huff! Some history there I assume.

Incident No 4 -- nasty frontal damage to Mark Donnelly's 944 on the exit at Druids -- no idea what happened

All I can say is 'that's racing'

Paul F

ps Peter, hi -- yes next outing for me is the Britcar support meeting at Silverstone on Fri/Sat 19th/20th Sept -- then a pleasant jaunt over to Spa on 3/4/5th Oct -- always pleased to see you or anyone else on here.
