In case you are not already aware the register display areas at this years Brands Hatch Festival will be different from last year. Last year we had a dedicated register parking area but it didn't show the cars off as well as they might have been. This year we will be having a 'display area' dedicated to each register. I need 12 cars for each of the two days,
each car will have an individual plaque made up by the club to show details of the car. If you are interested in being in the register display please contact me as soon as possible either by filling in the form in Porsche post or telephone or email with your details as shown below. Please submit your details for inclusion in the register display as soon as possible, we have a lot to organise and little time to do it, your immediate attention on this matter would be much appreciated.

Car Details required
1. Year of build for this car ie. 1982
2. Model type and number ie. 911 3.0 SC
3. Engine capacity ie. 3.0 litres
4. Engine power and performance details ie. 204 bhp, 0-60 mph 0.3secs, top speed 210mph.
5. Type of body work ie. Coupe, Cabrio, Targa.
6. Exterior colour and paint code no if known ie. Petrol Blue.
7. Interior colour and material ie. black, leather .
8. Wheel and tyre size ie. 205/55x16 fr - 225/55x16r. Fuchs.
9. Any special details, keep this to a maximum of three lines, any history, any modifications.
10. Owners name and region ie. Peter Spence, London region.
11. Registration number, how many previous owners.

We're hoping to organise this by early July so please hurry up . If you know an SC owner who would like to be in the display please warn them of the need for speed.

I had a very interesting day at Brands Hatch today but before I tell everyone about that can I firstly remind you to buy your tickets soon as the discount for P.C.G.B. members will expire on the 18th August. I have already spoken to a few members about this but secondly if any of you would like to volunteer to help on the register display area or at the 'Technical Arena' (a new addition to this years Brands and directly connected to the 'Porsche Buddies scheme' and the soon to be formed 'Technical Committee' please contact me a.s.a.p. this won't stop you from enjoying the event. Mark and I will be involved in the Technical Arena' event so we need back up from time to time.
Briefly the Technical Arena will utilise three pit garages, in one there will be 'Chips Away' repairing dings, stone chips, scratches and wheels, in the second (the one that Mark and I are involved with will be demonstrations of simple mechanical and electrical maintainance and possibly modifications on a Porsche 911 and provisionally 356, 944 and 964 or 993 models. The details concerning the 3rd pit have yet to be finalised but provisionally a motorsport team will be there with a road and race version of a current 911 such as the GT3. We are hoping it will be a great addition to this event and something that will continue into future club events.
After all the organising was over for me I was lucky enough to be passenger to Richard Tuthill in a 'Tuthill Porsche' on the rally section at Brands , it's tiny so we hardly hit third gear anywhere, Richard's car control was awesome and it was great to be driven in a 911 where the gearbox was used so adeptly. One thing that did strike me was the noise from the diff', the car is a donor 'long - nose' with a race prepared 3.0 flat six running on carbs, throttle response was outstanding, it was totally stripped out with lexan windows and recaro seats and full roll cage, I guess 950kg. So with 250bhp I estimate you can see amongst the trees it was a formidable weapon. Once I got over the initial fear (about a lap) I had to contend with the nausea I felt from being on antibiotics just now and the scenery flashing past and trees coming at you very rapidly, it reminded me of being on the 'Wild Mouse' at a fairground only more dangerous. The sound was great too, it sounds like a bag of old nails at tickover but on song it has that true 'gruff' Porsche falt six sound associated with the seventies rally cars. If I ever decide to start a new project this might be the way I go but I'd build a 'tarmac stage' car that is road legal. I'm even more tempted to strip the interior out of my car and fit a harness bar instead of buying new carpets. There's at least 50 kilos to lose in that car yet.
I also had an off road experience in a Cayenne, very capable, great technology, enough said.
BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW. If you see this post elsewhere don't be surprised.

Bones you may know the answer to this. As I've never been to the Porsche Festival are there any restrictions/requirements for clothing while doing the parade laps? I.e. Helmets overalls and shoes. (obviously no singlets or flip-flops).

Also When I received my tickets I noticed that it states that if we are doing parade laps we should not park in the register display area as it is difficult to get between the two. What arrangements are there for doing both the register display and parade laps?

See you in a week.

Cheers

There are no requirements for clothing to be worn on the Parade Laps , do them starkers if you like. If you haven't already booked to be in the 'Register Display' you are too late and you will have to park in the general register parking area, in actual fact it will be easier for you to access the circuit from there as it turns out much to the annoyance of people doing both Parade Laps and wishing to park in the Main Register Display area.
