Brands Hatch (convoy(s) ) etc

Jeff Forsyth

New member
I missed the meeting on the 4th so I might be playing catch up with this enquiry. As a region are we going to have a convoy as such to Brands Hatch. If so have any details and meeting places been discussed. I presume that there will be two/three runs i.e Fri/Sat & Sun. Any thoughts ?

sincerely

Jeff

Hi Jeff.

Can't helpyou with this one as we're not planning to go. I think there are some Yorkshire members going, certainly Martin Plavins and possibly Chris Northern. Give Chris a ring or e-mail. He may be able to help you.

Cheers

Ian

Jeff - nice idea, we didn't discuss as such at club meet.

I will be in London on the Sat., satisfying Jacqueline's need for shoes/bags/rags & slap.
Will be staying at brother in laws at Hitchin (Herts) Sat night and setting out on the Sunday from there.
Hitchin's right on the A1 so if you let me know an approx time we could link up (but prob better to meet on the M11 - what about Birchanger services (by Stanstead)

Re travelling down from Yorkshire - I see there's an offer from Jacob - in the Orange bug Jacob or will you be able to pick up the pace a little?

I will be gutted if I have to go down in the bug (It's the wifes and will top out at 65....downhill) [:D]

I am putting my car on the register stand on Sunday, so I am relying on Glyn from Specialist Cars to do the business.

There are two (possibly 3 if the owner can get it ready in time) cars planning to go down from Huddersfield on the Friday.

Let me know if you want to join us - I'm not planning to break any land speed records (honest).

Grand-things are begining to hot up-I'm planning to go Friday evening
So at present we have
-Jacob (bug or 964)
-Ian Donkin (are you in a white 3.2 ?) + 2 others
-Neil Eldred (coming from Hull-Friday I hope)
-Myself and Wife
-James Starkey (KN et al.) PS: any other from Lancs area ?

Perhaps we could meet with our cousins from the West - If we were really adventurous we could try meet up with our friends from the Midlands

Anybody interested or wanting to chat about it ring me on 01484 862908 or 07803072327
or e-mail me on jjpsf@hotmail.com

sincerely

I'm now the proud owner of a midnight blue Turbo 2 - I think Chris (or is that more liklely Jacqueline) may have his (her) work cut out to update region member details!

I'm expecting Steve Bradbury to be in convoy in one of his collection and also another from the area to be in his 912E if it's ready? Otherwise he'll probably be with Steve. I'll know more after this weekend.

I note you mention Friday evening however as we are all camping I envisage we will plan to head south somewhat earlier in the day to ensure we can get set up before dark. Still happy to meet up with others e.g. the Hull contingent at say Woodall Services if this fits.

Feel free to give me a call on 01484 686989 or 07802 463462.

Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian,

Your not wrong about the update bit!
Will be relying on yours and (everyone else's) speedy responses to the mailshot - coming soon.

See you around at BH
We'll be in the 993 register bit..but we'll track you down (no pun intended)

Ian,

We will probably head off earlier as proposed, Lesley Anne (wife) is going for her 20 week scan btwn 12-13 hrs and so if there are no problems or unforseen events we should get off early afternoonish. I'll ring you during the week.

sincerely

Jeff

That's great - glad to see you wanting to go camping (from another post requesting tickets) even thought your wife is expecting!

I'm on 'gardening leave' at the moment, so am usually available on the Hudds number through the day. If no answer, please leave me a message and I'll call you back.

Still not certain whether the 912E will make it - I heard it running on Saturday (the first start up since engine rebuild), but it needs an MOT.

Look forward to meeting you next week - if it works for you I suggest The Flouch or similar may be easiest for access to the M1 South.

Ian

As things stand at the moment Jeff and I are setting off from his at 14.00 on Saturday. The camping has gone a bit pete tong so we managed to book a best western hotel at Maidstone for the Saturday night ( closest we could get due to to festival popularity! )
So if anyone wishes to join us on our jaunt down saaurf you will be welcome.
Regards

Not a problem - we'll see you down there no doubt.

Hope the weather improves as I don't fancy a weekend of rain in the tent.....

Have a good trip.

Ian

last and final offers for an early morning start on Sunday (I don't want to be lonely!)
I will be leaving at around 7am from Pontefract (A1 - M18 - M1)

any takers?
