Breakdown Cover

Does everyone here just pay for Porsche Assistance each year or do you go direct to RAC/AA?

I just realized that I haven't had this for the last couple of years (as I haven't needed it) since I moved from an insurer who had i bundled in, to Porsche Insurance (Marsh) which doesn't.

I have RAC family cover as well as Porsche Assistance as it is not vehicle specific.

Regards,

Clive.

If you do track days, use Porsche Assistance as they will recover the car from a track whereas AA (and maybe others) do not.

You push it onto the road and ring from there.

Probably not a solution if you've flattened it against the Armco, though! [&:]

Last year was my first Porsche year and I drove from UK to Portugal and back, so needed European Breakdown recovery. I went for the Kwikfit recovery, it cost only around 50 quid and their service was exceptional. The water pump failed just before Lisbon and they arranged for vehicle recovery and tow to the OPC in Lisbon. They also offered accommodation in Lisbon while the car was being repaired and they followed up daily with calls asking if everything was OK.

The only thing i was disappointed at.....they never sent me an after service satisfaction survey.....they would have got 100+ stars for an awesome service!

They only cover for 5 home starts but that is more than enough for our kind of cars. This year I went for the PCGB Insurance with Lockton and they include breakdown service so they will have a tall order to match in the event that I need it again this year.....

I took out 2 years Porsche Assist when my warranty expired last November. Had massive puncture yesterday - truck arrived within hour and took car and passengers home. Great service, Porsche Assist kept in contact by phone throughout. I believe cover is exceptional including Europe. I realise it may be AA in disguise but it certainly seems to be a level above normal AA/RAC. I've only used it twice in 8 years but, both times brilliant - would not be without it. All the best.
