Breaking the 84 lux for parts

Well the time has come to break the 944 lux for parts finished the Millie Miglia and with work the way it is at the moment I think i'm going to have to break her as she's worth more than that looking at Ebay and the like.
Contact us for parts might have a change of heart as I really did love driving this car around some of Europe's best roads but need must unless something changes.
 
Could you not sell her as a complete running car?? After all she has an MOT and drove across Europe and back!

I hate to hear of another one being broken.
 
Sorry to hear it mate. I was facing the same situation a couple of months ago and was looking at having to sell my turbo. The thought of it was truly awful [:(] Luckily though things looked up and I didn't have to sell her after all. Hope you have the same good fortune.
 
No, scrapping cars and reducing the numbers is not good for the remaining cars!

944's are rare enough as they are! There is safety in numbers for classic cars, if there are sufficient cars around being maintained then it will be worthwhile for companies to continue to make parts. If the 944 gets too rare then parts will get rare and the cars will be much harder to run!

Agreed, with one caveat. If there are too many cars bought by people who don't appreciate them and maintain them, the image will suffer. It's a fine line between "Porsche's best-kept secret classic" and "usually seen broken down on a council estate".

Ok, I'm being a bit over-dramatic, but I shudder every time we get someone here who's bought a 944 off e-bay, it's an awful car, and they are gone in a few months with a bad taste in their mouth. The magazine articles are right, the 944 is possibly the best bargain classic, that's also a reliable and cheap-ish to maintain real driver's car, out there. That doesn't mean that there are not a whole load of cars that are beyond economical repair and really should be broken, rather than struggling along on bent MOTs until they collapse.
 
Wayne glad you made it back, we got a Ryan rip-off air flight back. If the roof linner is any good and black I would be interested, also what size were the spacers?

Still got the clock and it works headlining is brown but in good condition, shame you guys had to fly back though the Porsche was fine gave it a nice run on the way back 100mph for a fair while trying to make a ferry. Really not sure if she's going to get scrapped yet or sold as one thing that holds it back is the lack of history and rust on the outer cills inner cills are fine think its been jacked on the outer cills sometime in its life.
Was really impressed with how little fuel she used on the 50-60mph a roads not far off my daily driver. Spacers where 35mm all around.
Awaiting a reply to some interest in buying her which i would prefer tbh looking for £1250 to one of the forum but not going lower otherwise she'll get broken. Like I said if work was a bit more optimistic at the moment I would keep her for sure came home to a pay cut which is bad but not as bad as losing your job I suppose. Always intended keeping the car so never was one of these buy it run it sell types no bad taste in my mouth either blinking love the Porsche to bits and when times pick up i'll get a turbo or maybe an old school 911 maybe just maybe.
