Bridge Spoiler help

Hi all, the Bridge spoiler on my 1991 944 S2 has broken, along with one of the hockey sticks and gasket.

Sourcing a used one with hockey sticks seems impossible? Any suggestions? If not, where is the best place to go for a replacement. There are various places selling them for a hefty price - eg Design 911 and Eurospares, but I'm not sure which is the best / best value. Thanks!

In what way has the bridge spoiler broken? Can it not be repaired?

Unfortunately all bridge spoiler stuff is hens teeth. I've heard of broken hockey sticks and they were eye wateringly expensive when available.

If you can't stumble across a used hatch with bridge spoiler on it, chances slimmer than slim shady, I'd be looking at finding a plastics guy to sort what you have.

Your alternative is replacing the hatch with a rubber spoiler one, which are a lot more readily available.

or going for an aftermarket one which never look quite right - however I just googled them and as you found design 911 have them listed for c£800 and £1100 for a genuine one - might be worth asking your local porsche dealer. There is one on ebay in Germany UK second hand for £300 and replicas From about £170 (3 part ) to £270. Also delta styling - a slightly taller copy with hockey sticks for under £300. More options than I expected! good hockey sticks have always been hard to get, maybe they can be 3d printed now - though they would have to be in sections and then painted.

I think you can get the hockey stick gaskets from Porsche still, I had one of my hockey sticks repaired by the body shop who worked on the car - I think they fibreglassed the back and used some body filler to smooth over the join before paint.

I’ve replaced the bridge spoiler itself with a 3-piece adjustable 968 RS-style wing so I may have inadvertently become one of the only sourced for an actual genuine spoiler itself!

I'm sure long term owners were pleased when the value of the cars increased, but it had to follow that parts of the cars increased in price too. Around 12-15 years ago, complete running manual 968' coupes started around £5-6k and they would break for more then.

Thanks for the advice Tony. The one on ebay could be a good option.

My bridge spoiler was broken by a tw*t in a disco with the spare tyre on the back about 10 years ago, I seem to remember it being about £1000 then, luckily all paid for by the insurance. Then the body shop failed to fit the hockey sticks correctly and one snapped in half whilst travelling on the motorway.

Thanks @Eldavo!

I've read a few accounts of the hockey sticks snapping on motorways, maybe not the best design.

I've got mine sealed all the way down now so not relying on 35 year old clips. I am very keen to avoid one taking off on the motorway!

I have a spare original bridge spoiler I’m in stratford upon Avon
don’t have the hockey sticks

if you have the pieces it would not be hard to fix the hockey sticks even if you don’t have all the pieces wouldn’t be that hard - got photos of the sticks?

Sure it’s just a pile of parts currently my wife’s been in ITU so not done much but your most welcome

The hockey sticks look to be still available direct from Porsche, but are eye wateringly expensive...

The rally black ones have been discontinued and they now come in white and it says, "rework if necessary", maybe they are using a different mould / supplier.

Left - 9515124050103C, Rear spoiler (left) - £292.54 inc VAT
Right - 9515124060103C, Rear spoiler (left) - £292.54 inc VAT

Don't forget you can usually ask for a 10% discount with PCGB or Porsche Classic register.

The spoiler itself is £992.93 inc VAT (9515121010003C)
