bridge spoiler replacement

I have bought a rear bridge spoiler to replace my original rubber one and before I get involved with fitting can anybody please tell me:
1.Does the old one just unbolt or is it bonded aswell?
2.Do I have to replace the side spoiler trims or do I just take these off?
3.Will I need to paint where the old spoiler comes off or do I just fit the new one in place?
many thanks

You can't just fit the bridge at all; the glass has holes in different places for the bridge and rubber spoilers. You should just use Sickaflex or similar and bond it on. Use all the bridge spoiler tirms or it will look awful, and get the right rubber seals to go round them. Nothing should need painted unless the spoiler is scuffed or you want it body coloured.

I had problems trying to get my bridge spoiler fitted, as the bolts holding the original rubber spoiler in place had corroded and they didn't want to risk trying to take them out incase they break the glass in the process. I think the hatch for a bridge spoiler model hasn't got the holes in. I don't really know as I've not actually got it fitted.

From my experience, if you've bought a replica then you will need to bond it on. If you have an original then the above advice from Fen applies. If it's not too late then it is a lot less hassle to buy the whole thing from a breaker with rubber trim in place. Don't know, but I'd have thought the end result would be better too. I have just bought a whole 968 hatch from Porschapart to replace my awful replica bridge (just don't bother[:'(]) - they sounded like they regularly had them in too. Don't know if this would be easier and sell the one you have on?

I was thinking of bonding the spoiler on and paint it to the body colour match, problem is it has no other mouldings with it just the spoiler on its own.[8|].

The car in your avtar looks fantastic. I wouldn't spoil it by doing anything but changing the whole tailgate with one with an original bridge spoiler already attached for the best appearance.

Ian. Out of interest. How much was your hatch.??

From Buttercup itll have been twice the price of anywhere else, but till have been cleaned...

Damn I was really chuffed to get the spoiler and looked forward to seeing it fitted....not so sure now[&o]

I have a bill for my car for a replacement bridge spoiler from Porsche. I can't remember exactly the final cost but it's an absolute monster for what it is.
I've seen a few on ebay that look abit odd so a hatch complete with spoiler definitely looks the best option.
I would imagine even if it needs a complete respray to match it could still be cheaper.

It's probably 2 grand + these days to buy the parts to fit to a hatch that is already drilled for a bridge. A neighbour jumped on mine one night many years ago in a drunken attempt to set the alarm off and snapped it. We stopped pricing new bits at just over 1,600 notes (plusVAT) as it was ridiculous, but we weren't quite finished. In the end he gave me 580 quid in cash whcih was the price Simon B said he could do a complete hatch for back then and I bought a carbon fibre 968TS replica adjustable wing.

Think it was £450. Now to find out how cheap I could have bought one for...

was cleaned though.

My reason for my enquiry is,,, because i have a "spare" one...+ it could be available...[;)][:D] Yes it is a 968 one , with bridge spoiler....[:D][;)]

Aparently. Porsche are wanting around £3200 for a rear screen, thats without any trims or spoiler....[8|][8|][8|][8|]

To be honest. ive seen some of the ones attatched with "sikoflex" and they look pants....

Sold the spoiler on ebay and just about got my money back so on the look out for a complete tailgate and spoiler maybe at the right price?

I bought one of these that I am going to fit. Surely somebody has got it to fit ok as buying a whole 968 tailgate seems a bit extreme. I have my car off road the now and am going to look into it, see if it can be done without looking bad. Has anybody actually done this and had it come out ok, cheers all
