Bridgestone, Continental's or Pirelli's

The tyres on my 996 cabrio will need changing so as there all down to 3mm.

Would like any comments on the various brands of tyres for noise, ride comfort, wear rate's etc.

My car has sports suspension to ride quality is a big consideration.

Had Michelins didn't like them.

I have had both Pirellis and Contis on my '02 3.6 (sorry, never used the Bridgestone). The Pirellis grip and turn in very slightly better but roar like crazy on most roads. The Contis are MUCH quieter and seem to wear better for only a tiny drop in absolute tyre performance (and they are usually less expensive). Guess what mine's running on now!!

Best price I found was Jeffries High Performance Tyres in Warrington (Cheshire). They can be contacted on 01925 247560

Hope this helps

agreed with Ian on this one

Conti sports 2 N2 on my C2 and they are fine for most apps

like how often are you tracking your car.
handle well in the wet n dry as well as being quiet and quite hard wearing.

mind you only get about 8k out of the rears, loads more on the front.

good failry low price option

if you are in the Thames valley then get yourself to bracknell tyres!!

I had Bridgestone SO2s on mine when I took delivery of it. They were very skittish in the wet and break away and wheels spin (despite TC and an LSD) very common. All sorts of o-er moments. Changed to Pirelli P-zeros and the car was tamed instantly. I got over 12K from the rears and the front were about half worn by then.

Crumbs! I had S02's on my GT3 and they were brilliant. Don't know what the road noise is like as the engine howl at full chat drowns out road noise[:)] Always willing to try something different though....

Thanks for the info guys, Conti's were my favourite as they seem to have good rim protection and you've all just confirmed that they would be a good choice.

S02s ? or perhaps S02a ... they were (one of the) standard fitment on GT3s .. very different tyre [:D]

cheers, Maurice

Just S02's.... not the original set..... No idea what was on the car when new....

I have some Pirelli P. Zero that are at the end of their life thanks to a track day.

Have got some Michelin Pilot Sport via ebay.

Am thinking of either keeping the Pirelli or Michelin for the road OR track.

Has anyone got direct experience of both of these on the road or track and which ones are better suited?

Cheers,

Rob

For those of you who are near enough to take advantage there is a garage in Fareham, Hants that will supply and fit Pirelli Pzero Assimetrico's (225/40/zr18n3) for £135 each. Turnpike Tyres, I will post the phone No as soon as I can find it. Not bad I thought, cheapest I could get in this area anyway.
