bridgestone tyres

Does anyone have any experience / views on bridgestone tyres? My c4s has arrived fitted with these and I have no experience of Bridgestones. There seems to a bit more tyre noise than on the demeo c2s which was equiped with michelins.

I have Bridgestone fitted to my CN (not the same thing as a 911 I know) and they are fine. They are wearing better than the tyres that the car was delivered with, which I think were Michelins. I had Michelins on my old 996 which I found to be noisy when warn. Not a lot of help I know, sorry.

The Bridgestones will be a brand new size and specification especially for the C4S and 997TT (and perhaps 997GT3).

They will be wider and stiffer than the C2S's. Traditionally, Pirellis are quieter and a bit more compliant than Michelins, but with a shorter life. Not sure about Bridgestones.

Tyre specs and technical info normally appear in Christophorus each year.

I've got Bridgestones on my C2 as original. I've only done 4k miles but they seem fine. I like the protruding/ protective ring to protect the alloys for kerbing.

Which type of Bridgestone tyre?

I loved the S02's I used to use on the 911. I am not
that keen on the Pirelli P-Zero Corsa' that I am
currently eating through at an un-natural rate on
the Boxster.

They are Potenza RE 05 0A.
They have a very thick band to protect agasinst kerbing. Nearly as much protection as not letting my wife drive? How do you find the wear rate?

How are you finding the C4S?? I love mine !!

When I first had the car, I thought that the Michelins were very noisy (I had been hoping for Pirells, but no such luck). However, having driven nearly 2,000 miles I'm less conscious of tyre noise now,. I guess this is partly because I've become used to it, partly because I'm probably revving the engine over 5,000rpm to enjoy the PSE, but I also wonder whether I've now run the tyres in a bit and so have removed the top layer of tread which may also make a difference ?

I've not been in a C4S on Bridgestones so I can't comment on how noisy these are...

Cheers

only done about 350 miles in the first week but the car is awesome. So light and the chassis feels so 'alive'. When did you start to incease your revs? I havent taken mine up much over 3500 on the advice of opc Glasgow.

Reference to tyre wear rate, totally agree with the statement

It seems different OPCs offer different advice on this.

I was told to keep below 4,000rpm for the first 500 miles, then below 5,000rpm for the next 250miles then gradully increase the max revs over the next 250 miles.

Thereafter, just be sensible - i.e wait for the engine to warm up before revving the car hard - I wait until the oil temperature (left hand dial?) gets to around 80 (the water temperature rises to 80 very quickly so I think thi is a bad indicator to use as a guide as to when to extnd the engine).

I took mine easy for as long as I could, about 500 yards. Then tried to keep it under 4000 RPM till it reached 2K miles. I didn't do to bad but couldn't resist the odd burst. I have now done 2k Miles after 7 weeks and enjoy the power/ drive as often as the road permits. Great fun.

Didn't know these were N rated.... The S02's are excellent.
