Broken car diagnosis

So, after my little mishap last week, I took my car to RPM for them to let me know what damage I had done. As I could already tell from my untrained eye, I would need to replace the front valance and engine undertray.

Once it was up on the ramp, a little more was revealed; I'd managed to bend the radiator mounts and push the radiator back toward the engine. As a result the water pipe from the radiator to the thermostat was in contact with one of the belt pulleys and as such had nearly worn through and split. Also the radiator fan was in conact with another belt pullet and consequently is now not working properly. The guys at RPM have managed to use cable ties to take these off the belt pulleys, but this is obviously just a temporary fix. The left headlight lens is also just touching the surround on its way up and down, causing a slight juddering on raising and lowering. But the engine, front axle and all else appear OK

RPM suggested that a body shop might be able to bend the radiator mounts back and bring everything forward again. So I'm going to give Daytona Coachworx a call next week (which is where I'd had the wing resprayed just prior to my prang).

Here's the list of stuff that I know I'm going to need so far, please let me know if any of you are able to help with any of these:

Front valance (Alasdair (sulzeruk) is able to help with this
Engine undertray
Water pipe from rad to thermostat
Possibly radiator mounts if they can't be bent back
Possibly radiator fan if it fails to work properly once pulled back into the correct place
Possibly radiator if bent - but it looks OK from what we could see

So, could have been worse I think!

Unfortunate but lucky. That's not a bad list of injuries. That rubber hose is an offensively over priced Porsche only if I remember correctly but the other parts including the radiator (if it needs one) are not bad at all.

You'll have her put to right in no time.

Regards,

Ben
