Broken oil filler pipe

Hi Everyone

Hope you can help but probably one for Richard. Managed to break the oil filler pipe yesterday!. Managed to jam the hard bit into the flexible bit and limp home from Liverpool. Happy to tackle it myself but I need instructions. Would appreciate advice from anyone who had done it and can provide some insight to any gotchas!.

Thanks
Shahid

It is a bit of a pain, but do-able. I have never done it, but you have to remove (at least) the air cleaner, throttle body, and alternator, to get to the bolts where the tube is attached. It also helps a bit to drop the engine a bit (loosening the mounting bolts) to give you an inch or so more room. Book time is 1.6 hours, but that is highly optimistic. The part is cheap enough at about £32 inc VAT.

I have often wondered about heat shrink for this?

If the stuff with glue inside was used i reckon it would never break again and make a better part out of it.

Has it broke on the concertinaed part?.

Richard, do you have any workshop manual type instructions for this. Don't want to attempt without looking at the some pics and/or instructions. May need to get my local indy to do this.

The pipe broke just at the concertina part. Tried gaffer tape but it was hot and oily so wouldn't stick. Finally managed to jam the hard plastic into the concertina part, so that It didn't flow out, and limped home. Checked when I got home and there wasn't any further oil leak so keeping at bay for now!
