Broken Sun Visor

Good evening all,

today my passenger sunvisor broke. Having looked at the damage, it seems that the hinge pin has broken and it looks terminal, so the question is can you replace the mirror housing with lights or do you need to replace the whole sun visor.

If you can replace the mirror housing, can some one advise how I get it out and are there any wiring issues I need to be aware of?

Many thanks

I don't have the answer to your question without pulling mine apart I am afraid but, has the pin actually cracked or has it just come loose from the mounting?

The only reason I ask is, the pin on a previous car came out of the mounting point, and visors were rare (the car was no longer manufactured), I couldn't locate one so simply popped a pea size amount of epoxy and pushed it back in, it was good as new!

I had the same problem, I replaced the glass hinged bit and just kept the original visor shell. then replaced the middle bit, it did cost about 50 quid for it tho. ill forward a link, you also have to solder 2 wires.

Where do you live - I like to come and join you - we have not seen the sun for months and have had no use for the visor![;)]

Ha made me laugh, anyway heres the visor part although that's for a 1999 c2 not sure if they're different on other models. I think i just left the wires on the shell and removed them from the visor i was fitting. Im sure they get broken due to people shutting the visor without closing the flap.

There are some DIY fixes here, which might be of use: http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/1512-sun-visor-mirror-return-springs/

The parts are available separately, but are quite expensive.

Regarding using the sun visor becuase of the the sun, well the sun came out for sucha short period the sun visor did not know what to do and cracked under the pressure.

It looks like the pin itself in the mirror unit has snapped and does not look repairable.

Does the mirror unit just pop out from the visor?
