Broken window mechanism

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help? My facelift 996 C4 drivers side electric window has stopped working. The motor is running but the window isn't going up or down. I've taken off the door card and noticed a snapped wire coming out from the electric window motor.

Can this wire be replaced or do i need to buy a new window motor? also, can you replace the motor without replacing the regulator?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks Richard,

The cable seems to have got chewed up in the motor. Are there are any other cabled parts to the mechanism other than the regulator?

I've been quoted £160 Inc VAT for a secondhand motor and regulator (complete mechanism straight out of another car). The guy I spoke to said that they only sell both bits together as they're a pain to separate and fit independantly. Any suggestions on the best steps forward would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
A new regulator is only £130.00 from Porsche so why s/h, you say the motor is running so that is ok, Renew the membrane or you will have a car full of water make sure that you remove all the old glue.

If you are handy with tools, replacing the window regulator is a DIY job with not too many horrors. To be fair, I haven't done one myself but the guy that bought my old car had to replace the driver's side one and said it was relatively easy.

This is the regulator assembly. I expect the wire you can see is coming from the hub in the centre of the photo.
