Brown gunge on oil filler pipe

I've noticed brown gunge around the filler neck in my MY06 C4S, 47000 miles. Is this because the car does daily short run to and from my Practice and work and not getting a proper chance to warm up all the structures in the engine bay? I want to check if the forum have any information on anything I should worry about.
 
Give it good, long run to dissipate condensation. That should clean things up a bit. If the oil is more than around 6K miles old, then change it and the filter as a precaution

It's exactly as you suspect, I get a bit in the cap on mine and I don't do short journeys!
I wipe it clean every 6 months or so. Quite a common query.
