As a region we have supported the GNAAS (Great North Air Ambulance Service) with donations from events. I spotted this great fundraising opportunity that also offers the chance to experience an hour flight in a Boeing 737 simulator (which is the same aircraft our daughter flies daily for work, cue a proud parent moment!). This is a wonderful opportunity to get a brief idea of what goes on up front when we are all sitting in the back sipping our drinks and having fun.
I will be taking part in this regardless and wondered if anyone would either wish to support me or join in and help raise money for an excellent cause. They still have places available for the Sunday and are trying to fill them all if possible. So pip pip and chocks away to Newcastle Flight Sim Centre next weekend and join in the fun.
Anyone kind enough to want to sponsor me can do so at https://www.justgiving.com/Greg-Harm
24-hour 'Flyathon
Start Date: 24/10/15
End Date: 25/10/15
Event Type: Fundraising Flyathon
Price: £50.00
A business is appealing for wannabe pilots to take part in a 24 hour ‘flyathon’ in aid of charity.
The Flight Sim Centre, which is based by Newcastle Airport, is staging the event on October 24-25 to raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). It is being held in their Boeing 737 simulator, where budding pilots with or without experience can donate to 'fly' for an hour or more.
Participants are asked to donate a minimum of £50 to GNAAS.
Amanda, an instructor at the centre, said: "Those taking part will get to really feel what it's like to be the Captain of a passenger jetliner. They can try a challenging approach at the famous Kai Tak Airport or fly a circuit at Newcastle Airport."
