I suspect that a few of you will have read in the papers today about the proposed 'Showroom tax' possibly introduced in the Wednesday budget. According to the media, a flat tax of £1500 will be leved on all 'gas guzzling cars' :
'The cost of "gas guzzling" new cars is set to rise by up to £1,500 under plans for a new "showroom tax" to be unveiled in this week's budget. It will affect families buying saloons, estates and people carriers as well as four-wheel drive "Chelsea Tractors" and sports cars.'
We will have to wait and see if this is true and if so, by how much and when.
Possibly a good reason not to buy a new car. However, it may apply to secondhand cars also but I'm not sure how it would apply to private sales.
