Bumper Plugs

The Bumper Plug plastic retaining string.

My plug string (no puns please) has broken.
Does anyone know where to get the retainer (string), then how to connect to the anchoring point to bumper (rear)?
Does the rear bumper need removing or is there a trick to fixing?
