hello

Has anyone ever tryed removing the bumper strip which runs down the side of the car, I'm thinking about removing this strip and replacing with the fatter shorter 944 version which i think looks neater and not so dated. Its it a simple case of whipping off anf cleaning and polishing and the sticking new one on or is there more to it ???

I haven't done the whole side, but did change the bit at the front. The main warning is be careful not to scratch anything. Use care. Clean it up well before putting the new one on, and for Pete's sake make sure you really get the new one on straight or it will shout at you every time you look at it and you'll wonder why you bothered.

I think I read somewhere that you can use a hairdrier to warm up and peel off the old strips - not too hot though!

thanks for the advise guys i will keep these ideas in mind. Might wait alittle now cold weather and all. And really need to sourse some new ones before taking olds ones off.

When I changed my o/s door and n/s wing I had to remove the strips, the plastic cover has a metal strip attached which is then attached to the panel via double sided sticky tape.

I was able to get the same tape from my local car shop it was too wide and I had to cut it down the full length but it just ment I got more for my money only cost me about £2.50

The most difficult part was removing the old stick tape, eventually just removed it by rolling it off with my thumb.

Use a length of masking tape to ensure you get the strip correctly lined up prior to fitting, the end result on my car was very good the old strip looks like new and is totally flat.
