Hi
I am looking to get a bumpsteer kit to help the handling on my lowered Carrera.
I believe Weltmeister do a kit called the BS-1000.
Can't seem to find it in the UK
Anyone recommend a UK source for this or similar

many thanks for any speedy replies[;)]

You don't need the kit as it is just rack spacers (ie., a fat washer) and longer bolts. I would think that any Porsche mechanic will have the necessary bits or could cobble it together. I know JAZ had bolts and spacers on hand when I had mine done so try Steve Winter if you have no luck.

I know of the rack spacer solution but some opinions seem to think ( I have no opinion as I have no knowledge!) that the spacer fix is inferior in some way to the BS kit, why I don't know-- probably because they sell a BS kit!!
So I may use the rack spacer technique ,but , being in the habit of spending 200 when 20 will do I would like to source the BS-1000 kit if I can

I couldnt find a UK supplier for this kit, so I ordered the ERP bump steer kit from Steve Weiner at Rensport Systems (Oregon, USA). See http://www.rennsportsystems.com/1-sh.html. He advised me to use these instead of the spacers due to the possibility of the rack binding, but to be honest the spacers have been used by a lot of people for years with no adverse issues.

He accepts Paypal so ordering and delivery were pretty quick.

As my car is almost a daily driver, I also ordered some rubber boots to protect the rod ends from John Handley Bearings.

Hope this helps.

Anil

PS. My car is lowered to 24.5in at the front and about 24in at the back.

Here's a pic of the assembled tie rod

To raise the steering rack is dead easy: you need 2x M12 bolts (8.8) ( high tensile) and some washers. I used 2x M16 SS nuts to raise mine .. worked like a dream and cost around 4 pounds for the 2 bolts.[;)]

Well, fair point. The rack spacers only correct a certain amount of bump steer ie., you can only use spacers of a certain thickness before (as mentioned above) the rack will bind. If they don't do the trick you go for the ERP kit ( I thought the Weltmeister kit was just rack spacers - my mistake). BTW, there are question marks over the ERP kits longevity, if I recall a Pelican discussion correctly.
