Burning Oil Smell

Morning All!

My S2 has been smelling worse and worse of oil when its running, if you open the window while driving its the first thing you smell, also theres oil coming out of the exhaust! As soon as i have time i was going to do a compression test to see if the rings are ok. If thats not the case though from what i can gather im most likely left with either the valve guides or maybe the air/oil separator? Theres 1 minor leak thats coming from the cam tower but the smell seems to be too strong for the amount coming of oil ive found. I figured as i can smell it, even when stood next to it while it running that oil is being sucked up into the intake through the AOS? Any help or past experience on this would be great!

Maybe you have something leaking onto the exhaust manifold and burning off giving the smell. My car does that occasionaly with a slightly dripping clutch hydraulic pipe.

Not directly related to the source of your problem, but I seem to remember reading that if your hatch seal is shot you'll get exhaust fumes drawn in if you open a window - worth checking out to avoid poisining yourself if nothing else....

ETA - there seems to be more info on the OAS causing oil buring over on Rennlist if you've not already checked that out. I have similar symptoms myself.

I have the same symtoms as well and have read all the posts on Rennlist. Opinion is pretty conclusive, fit new seals to the AOS and a catch tank to supplement it also. Currently in the design stages and soon to be making one at work (in my meal breaks of course[;)])
