Tomorrow... it's Hail Mary time...

So how did it go Rick ?

If I've discovered anything this year, it's that nothing in racing comes easy ...

And racing is a relative term [;)]

yes big ups and downs. Yesterday car was nearly for sale, today I love it - crazy.

So we are all waiting news Rick, hope you've had more luck than me this weekend.

Well final pass was 270mph... which is a) damn quick and b) quicker than any German ever! (Sorry Hacki, I'm faster than your entire nation ;-) )

But not fast enough... gearboxes weak link now we've fixed engines and chains... but we can sort for 2012... when I'll finally get to click 6th gear and "let the big dog run"....

Can't wait... final installment should be on EFG today... and it's a scary tale!

And yes, racing is like that.

Rick

bl00dy hell! thats immense. Good work Rick! I'm sure the words dont convey how mega that must be. Do you have video?

I will go with that-as an ex Renold Chains man I am suitably impressed with all this "go kart" technology-something about the breakages mentioned means I would never be persuaded to get in the "beast" but that only enhances my admiration for you,Rick-well done indeed.
Best regards,

Colin Appleton.

I'm jealous of you being AT Bonneville, never mind RACING there! Been twice and would love to go again.

Good on you Rick

Thanks for that support Folks... hoping to have a little 90 second teaser video in the next few days.. then a full 15 mins jobby at some point, including on board action etc... cant wait to see the onboard myself...

And yes Colin, each time you climb in the beast you feel quite a lot of apprehension... (And also bl**dy uncomfortable!)

Cheers
Rick

Why do I feel honoured to be mentioned in the same breath as a fictional motoring journalist? But I do...

to misquote

"Into a particularly nuggety 'chute launch, I snapped shut the throttle and the pert behind of the Flower of Scotland stepped sideways, but I caught it with a dab of oppo."

As I said in the blog... it's not so much doing it at the time, it's the thinking "oh my God how big would that accident have been otherwise" afterwards...

Cheers
Rick

Rick,

don´t forget, that´s German pre-war speed on a two lane Autobahn - Rudolf Carracciola on the 28th January 1938. it didn´t take the Salt Flats to do that.

Unfortunately Bernd Rosemeyer was killed trying to beat him the same day.

Nice try, Rick, better luck next time!

Seriously, what a story!

All the best,

Hacki
