Buy Carrera 3.2 now or save up for 993?

I' ve been saving up for a 993 for some time now... (with a plan to keep the car for the long term) at this rate still have 12-18 months to go - but very tempted to say to hell with it and buy a 3.2 Carrera (put off somewhat by stories of 964' s) - what do you guys think? I have crossposted this in 3.2 Carrera to try to get a " balanced" view! Any advice/opinions welcome.

Don' t be put off by all the old tosh about 964s. Like every other model there are good ones and bad ones. Check the history, check the car, check the owner and you will find that a good 964 combines the olde worlde charm(?) of the SC/3.2 with the better manners and up to date furnishings of the 993. Check out the Titanic 964 site and ask the same question. Popular opinion has it that the 993s are going to prove just the same as the 96s in the end and it all depends upon how they have been maintained.

Thanks for the feedback. I think a 3.2 C makes good sense but I think I' ve made up my mind I just dont want to buy a car, inevitably spend money on it knowing I' m going to sell it in a year or so. If I find the right 993 C2 Targa hopefully I' ll keep it forever. Re 964 I' m sure if you find the right one you' re OK, but I dont have the luxury of looking at a lot of cars (when " the time" comes). Is there anything to look out for on the Varioram 993 in particular and what apart from the body is the differences on the ' S' and how do they affect performance?
